Daniel Cormier to face Anderson Silva at UFC 200

Daniel Cormier will take on Anderson Silva at UFC 200 on Saturday.

Dana White confirmed the news on Twitter on Thursday after Combate and TMZ reported the news earlier in the day.

The unexpected pairing will be a non-title fight and is only possible because Jon Jones was removed from the historic card Wednesday due to a potential doping violation.

After news of Jones' removal was announced, the UFC moved fast to keep Cormier on the card and bolster the already stacked event.

Miesha Tate versus Amanda Nunes is the new main event, the UFC announced, with Lesnar-Hunt as the co-main and Cormier-Silva the third-to-last bout.

Silva is stepping in on short notice after being forced from UFC 198 in May due to gallbladder surgery. The living legend has gone winless in his last four fights, including an overturned result against Nick Diaz due to positive drug tests.

This is what the UFC 200 main card looks like:

Main Card (PPV)
Miesha Tate vs. Amanda Nunes
Brock Lesnar vs. Mark Hunt
Daniel Cormier vs. Anderson Silva
Jose Aldo vs. Frankie Edgar
Cain Velasquez vs. Travis Browne
