FC Dallas dumps Montreal to mar Drogba's return

FC Dallas bounced back from a dismal defeat and spoiled the return of Didier Drogba all in one fell swoop, topping the Montreal Impact 2-0 on Saturday at Toyota Stadium.

With the memories of a 5-0 battering at the hands of the Houston Dynamo fresh in their minds, the Hoops used two second-half goals from the Argentine duo of Mauro Diaz and Maximiliano Urruti to collect its second victory of the season.

Drogba, who missed the Impact's first two matches after refusing to play on artificial turf, was subbed on in the 70th minute for Lucas Ontivero, but even the influence of the Ivorian striker wasn't enough to nullify Dallas' performance.

Instead, Diaz and Urruti scored eight minutes apart, in the 79th and 87th minutes, with the former's curling free-kick effort leaving Impact 'keeper Evan Bush flat-footed.

The defeat is Montreal's first of the season, though Mauro Biello's lot still sit atop the Eastern Conference standings on six points, with rivals Toronto FC two back ahead of its trip Sunday to Sporting Kansas City.
