Montreal Impact star Didier Drogba will make his triumphant return to the field against FC Dallas on Saturday upon the lush (and real) grass of Toyota Stadium.

"Training sessions are going well," Impact head coach Mauro Biello told reporters, according to Olivier Tremblay from MLSsoccer.com. "Every day, we get videos that show what he's done. I spoke to him today, and he's doing fine and is excited to join the team. He's looking forward to be back with us.

"Didier is an important player for us. We don't have to change much if he plays. Everyone knows what he can do. We're waiting for him to be 100 percent ready to rejoin the team, and then he'll be available. I'll then make a decision on how he'll help us."

Drogba has yet to feature for the soaring Impact this season; first, he was injured and needed to rest in Miami; then, word emerged of his reluctance to play on artificial surfaces and, with the Impact taking on both the Vancouver Whitecaps and New York Red Bulls on turf, the former Chelsea man spent the last few weeks rehabbing in Sacramento.

But, he returns for Montreal's third match of the 2016 campaign and while he was missed by the club's faithful, the Canadian outfit still thrived without him; resounding victories over Vancouver and New York placed Montreal top of the Eastern Conference.

The Ivorian returns to a squad feeling confident and in-form and will be looking to make his presence felt immediately, as Dallas is still reeling from a 5-0 loss to the Houston Dynamo last weekend.

He'll be hoping to keep pace with his goal-scoring adversary from Toronto, too; Sebastian Giovinco has two goals in as many games. The two are expected to compete for the league's Golden Boot award this season.
