Report: Orlando City crafting a trade with D.C. United for rights to Nocerino
Orlando City is reportedly looking to strike a deal with D.C. United for the discovery rights to Italian midfielder Antonio Nocerino as the Florida-based outfit attempts to lure the AC Milan man to Major League Soccer.
The Lions have already been threatened with tampering charges for negotiating with Nocerino despite not holding his signing rights, a system used in MLS to place a claim on players on a right-of-first-refusal basis.
As such, the Orlando Sentinel reports that Adrian Heath's side is in the process of crafting a trade with D.C. United, with a minimum of $50,000 in allocation money needed to procure Nocerino's discovery rights.
Nocerino is reportedly looking to sign with the highest bidder, which, at the moment, is Orlando City, who has supposedly made an offer of $900,000 per year.
Orlando would be using Targeted Allocation Money to either buy down Nocerino's contract to the league maximum $436,250 against the cap or to buy down the contracts of Bryan Rochez and Carlos Rivas, two Designated Players with smaller cap charges than marquee man Kaka.
Nocerino and Kaka were teammates in Milan and could soon be reunited in Orlando's midfield.
