Everton manager Roberto Martinez denied reports suggesting the club was in talks with the Colorado Rapids over a transfer that would see Tim Howard join the Major League Soccer team.

The Rapids ware reportedly in pursuit of the goalkeeper after the team's failed advances to lure fellow American Alejandro Bedoya away from French side FC Nantes, according to ESPN FC.

But the Toffees gaffer put an end to speculation for now, after he revealed that Everton has not been contacted by the MLS outfit, let alone offered a bid for the 36-year-old.

"No, at the moment there is nothing," Martinez told Greg O'Keeffe of the Liverpool Echo. "There is nothing to comment on."

A similar situation arose this time last year when Howard was linked with a move away, with Martinez rubbishing the links to MLS as well and saying the U.S. international is his ideal netminder.

However, Martinez may be willing to alter his stance on the situation following several poor performances at an advanced age, as well as the team's disappointing 12th-place spot in the table.
