Joevin Jones is heading to the Seattle Sounders.

During the first round of the 2016 MLS SuperDraft on Thursday, the Chicago Fire acquired the 15th overall draft pick and some allocation money in a trade with the Seattle Sounders, with an undisclosed player heading the other way.

A few hours after the draft, that player has been informed of the move, and Jones, a midfielder by trade, is officially a Sounders player.

"We are excited to add a player of Joevin's caliber to our roster," Sounders general manager Garth Lagerwey said in a statement. "Making our roster younger and faster has been a priority for the club this offseason, and acquiring a player like Joevin fits that bill."

"Joevin is a player with speed and versatility that can come in and help our team," head coach Sigi Schmid said. "He played well for Chicago this past season and we look forward to seeing what he brings to our roster."

Jones, 24, joins Seattle after making his debut last year with the Fire. He appeared in 28 games in the 2015 season.
