Orlando City completes deal for Joe Bendik from Toronto FC

Orlando City has acquired goalkeeper Joe Bendik from Toronto FC in exchange for a conditional fourth-round selection in the 2017 Major League Soccer SuperDraft.

The 26-year-old ends a three-year association with the Canadian outfit to join the Floridian franchise, which is set to enter its second MLS season.

"Joe is a proven goalkeeper who has significant amount of experience within the league," head coach Adrian Heath told the club website. "We're looking forward to working with him as he's a strong competitor who comes highly recommended."

Bendik has appeared in over 70 MLS matches since moving to the league from Norwegian club Sogndal in 2012, but had recently fallen out of favour at the BMO Field as manager Greg Vanney opted for the recently departed Chris Konopka in goal.

The Georgia native joins Earl Edwards Jr. in competition for the Lions' spot between the sticks.
