Toronto FC forward Sebastian Giovinco - who won the Golden Boot and the MLS Newcomer of the Year award - spearheads this Best XI, which features players from eight teams across the league.

The list includes six players currently competing for the MLS Cup: New York Red Bulls duo Dax McCarty and Luis Robles made the list, as did FC Dallas duo Fabian Castillo and Matt Hedges and Columbus Crew twosome Kei Kamara and Ethan Finlay.

Other notable star players include LA Galaxy forward Robbie Keane and Montreal Impact defender Laurent Ciman. However, Impact forward Didier Drogba was left off the list, despite scoring 11 goals in the last 11 games of the season.

With the team of the year now announced, MLS will next award its Most Valuable Player award on Dec. 2, while Giovinco and Sporting Kansas City forward Krisztian Nemeth are locked in the battle for the Goal of the Year title, too.
