VIDEOS: Federico Higuain, Patrice Bernier trade goals 4 minutes apart
Montreal Impact captain Patrice Bernier took one look at the goal scored by Columbus Crew midfielder Federico Higuain and decided to do something about it.
Higuain was all smiles as he celebrated with teammates after slipping home the opening goal in the 33rd minute of play, breaking down the Impact defense after half an hour of sustained pressure; Didier Drogba served him the ball on a silver platter from a defensive error in the box.
Being away from home in the first leg of a two-game series against the Montreal Impact, Higuain's goal was rather important for his side - it's an away goal, which is the first tiebreaker for the MLS Playoffs Conference Semifinal round.
But, those smiles were quickly wiped away as, four minutes later, Bernier equalized with a headed effort off a corner kick, restoring the deadlock at Stade Saputo in the first half.
The teams went into the locker rooms at halftime tied at 1-1.
