Vancouver Whitecaps clinch playoff spot after drawing FC Dallas
Anne-Marie Sorvin-USA TODAY Sports
The Vancouver Whitecaps are heading to the MLS postseason.
Needing either a win or a draw against Western Conference opponent FC Dallas on Wednesday night, Vancouver fans watched with glee at BC Place as the Whitecaps secured a postseason berth with a scoreless draw against the Hoops.
A solitary point was enough for the Whitecaps on the night, and while a win would have put Vancouver in second place of the MLS Supporters' Shield race - ahead of the LA Galaxy and behind the New York Red Bulls - the players won't be losing too much sleep over it with playoffs now assured.
The Whitecaps still have two games to go to compete for the Supporters' Shield, a prize head coach Carl Robinson would surely love to capture.
