The Steven Gerrard era in North America will begin in July.

Bruce Arena, his new coach with the Los Angeles Galaxy, expects the former Liverpool captain to suit up for his new squad when they play Mexican side Club America during the International Champions Cup on July 11.

"We haven't finalised a date yet. He will be here, he'll get some training in and by the time that he's eligible to play, he'll be ready to go," Arena told reporters after the Galaxy's 1-0 victory over Real Salt Lake.

The 34-year-old's first league match with his new club should occur the following week against the San Jose Earthquakes at home in the StubHub Center.

Transfer rules prohibit Gerrard from participating in matches earlier than July 8, when the summer transfer window opens.

Gerrard is expected to arrive in the United States following his trip to Dubai with his former Liverpool teammates, as they traveled to the Middle Eastern city shortly after the conclusion of the Premier League season.
