Gordon's goal in stoppage time lifts Galaxy over Dynamo

CARSON - Alan Gordon scored on a header in stoppage time to give the L.A. Galaxy a 1-0 victory over the Houston Dynamo 1-0 on Friday night, ending a five-game winless streak.

Gordon's soft touch with the header caught goalkeeper Tyler Deric flat-footed 90 seconds into stoppage time. The perfect feed came from Robbie Keane.

The Galaxy (4-4-5) had the better of possession much of the first half, but Houston (4-5-4) was awarded a free kick just outside of the box in the 43rd minute. On a designed set piece, the ball ended up with Mika Vayrynen alone at the top of the box, but his left-footed attempt sailed just high.

Keane came on as a sub for L.A. early in the second and made an immediate impact. He found Gyasi Zardes for a point-blank attempt, but Deric was able to snuff it.

Gordon came on for the Galaxy in the 68th minute and, on his first touch, had a quality opportunity in close off Stefan Ishizaki's precision cross. But Houston defender David Horst went to the ground to block the shot.
