MLS Game Summary - Columbus at San Jose

San Jose, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The San Jose Earthquakes extended their unbeaten streak to four games on Saturday with a comfortable 2-0 victory over 10-man Columbus Crew SC at Avaya Stadium.

United States international Chris Wondolowski bagged his 99th career goal in Major League Soccer and midfielder Shea Salinas added the insurance tally for the 'Quakes, who claimed their fifth victory of the season.

Columbus, meanwhile, struggled most of the night and played a man down from the 33rd minute on after midfielder Mohammed Saeid was shown a second yellow card.

Things started brightly for both sides as the clubs exchanged quality scoring chances over the first half hour of play.

The match swung in favor of San Jose when Saeid was given his marching orders by referee Kevin Stott after a late challenge, reducing the visitors to 10 men.

Columbus held out over the remainder of the first half to get into the dressing room on level terms, but playing a man down caught up with them in the second half.

The hosts opened the scoring 10 minutes into the second half as Wondolowski got on the end of a cross from Jordan Stewart and nodded it home, taking him within one of goal the century mark.

Just five minutes later the 'Quakes doubled the lead as Salinas collected the ball on the edge of the box, played a quick one-two with Matias Perez-Garcia and slotted it past Columbus goalkeeper Steve Clark with ease.

San Jose kept most of the possession over the final half-hour, neutralizing any potential offensive threat by Columbus as the home side cruised to all three points.
