VIDEO: Seattle's Clint Dempsey scores fastest goal in franchise history

Reuters

The Seattle Sounders were felled by 10-man San Jose on Saturday night at CenturyLink Field, a result that, after only two weeks, is far and away the most surprising of the young campaign.

The Sounders won't take much solace in the fact that they started the match well, taking the lead on Clint Dempsey's record-setting goal in the opening minute.

The American gave his side a 1-0 lead after only 18 seconds, setting a new mark for the fastest goal in club history.

The 32-year-old has a habit of finding the net while the opposition is still reacting to the opening whistle, as he also holds the record for the quickest World Cup goal in U.S. Soccer history - scored against Ghana in last year's tournament.
