Toronto FC declines 2015 contract option on Dwayne De Rosario

Dwayne De Rosario's second stint with his hometown club has come to an end.

Toronto FC announced on Wednesday their decision to decline the 2015 option on De Rosario's contract, meaning the former MLS MVP becomes eligible for the league's re-entry draft. Should he pass through the draft, TFC could attempt to negotiate a new contract with the Canadian forward.

But coming off a season in which the 36-year-old started just four matches, making 19 appearances overall and finding the net only once, that seems unlikely.

In addition to De Rosario, the club declined options on defender Ryan Richter, midfielder Jeremy Hall and forward Andrew Wiedeman.
