MLS Game Summary - Los Angeles at Seattle

Seattle, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - Seattle Sounders FC clinched its first-ever MLS Supporters' Shield on Saturday as a brace from Marco Pappa granted the club a 2-0 victory over the Los Angeles Galaxy at CenturyLink Field.

It was a cagey affair that yielded little in the way of scoring opportunities, but the Sounders managed to clinch the regular season title in winning fashion thanks to two late goals from Pappa.

The opener came in the 85th minute as a quick free kick saw Obafemi Martins split the defense for an unmarked Pappa to fire home from close range.

Pappa made sure of the victory in the final minute of stoppage time, pouncing on a defensive miscue from the Galaxy to chip home the insurance goal.

The victory sees Seattle (20-10-4) finish on 64 points and clinch home-field advantage throughout the postseason.

Los Angeles (17-7-10) will claim second place in the Western Conference by finishing on 61 points.
