MLS Game Summary - Vancouver at Los Angeles

Carson, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - First-half goals from Landon Donovan and Marcelo Sarvas propelled the Los Angeles Galaxy to a 2-0 win over Vancouver Whitecaps FC at the StubHub Center on Saturday.

The Whitecaps brought with them a six-match unbeaten streak, but the visitors fell behind to a goal from Donovan after just four minutes while Sarvas added the second in the 32nd minute, with Robbie Keane assisting on both goals.

Los Angeles has taken seven points from its last four games and remains in the top four in the Western Conference, just two points from the summit.

The Galaxy got off the mark inside of four minutes when Keane picked up a loose ball and drove it to the back post, where Donovan redirected it home at full stretch from close range.

Keane was extremely fortunate in the 32nd minute when he whiffed on a shot inside the box but still managed to push the ball into the path of Sarvas, who rolled his shot inside the far post.

The Irishman was in a giving mood on Saturday and he teed up Baggio Husidic a few minutes later for a shot that sailed just over the crossbar.

Husidic went close again midway through the second half with a header that was cleared off the goal line, but Vancouver offered little going forward and the visitors ended the game with 10 men as Johnny Leveron was sent off in stoppage time for kicking the Galaxy's Alan Gordon.

Keane then almost found the net himself in the closing moments but was denied by the crossbar.
