MLS Game Summary - Portland at New England

Foxborough, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Portland Timbers and New England Revolution split the points at Gillette Stadium on Saturday as the two sides played to a 1-1 draw.

The lone strike of the opening period came in the 27th minute when Diego Fagundez threaded a pass through the Portland defense to find Charlie Davies, who beat the offside trap to slip a shot past Donovan Ricketts from a tough angle.

Portland eventually leveled the score and it was Liam Ridgewell who did the honors 25 minutes from time. The Timbers defender capped a surging run into the penalty area with a deft finish past Bobby Shuttleworth for his first MLS goal.

With both sides failing to find a winner in the closing stages of the match, the Revs and Timbers were made to settle for a draw that does neither side many favors.

Portland (7-7-10) remains outside the Western Conference playoff picture with 31 points while New England (8-12-3) stays put in seventh place in the East with 27 points.
