Could a reunion between Ronaldinho and Thierry Henry be on the horizon?

Well, according to Brazilian media outlet UOL Esporte, the two-time FIFA World Player of the Year is on the verge of joining the New York Red Bulls after his representatives met with MLS executives earlier this week.

Ronaldinho, who recently became a free agent after parting ways with Atletico Mineiro, would be the Red Bulls' third Designated Player - Henry and Tim Cahill are the other two.

The possibility of the 34-year-old midfielder playing alongside Henry is particularly enticing as the two spent a season together at Barcelona in 2007-08 and the report states that Ronaldinho could convince Henry, whose contract expires at the end of this season, to stay in New York Harrison, N.J.

Coincidentally, when Barcelona took on the Red Bulls in a friendly back in 2006, Ronaldinho scored a brace to lift the Catalan club to a 4-1 win. His opening goal came from the spot in the 18th minute.

Since winning the Copa Libertadores with Atletico Mineiro in 2013, Ronaldinho's career has been in decline. He only appeared in two of the club's 12 matches so far in the Brasileirao and has come under constant criticism for being out of shape. It was no surprise when he was omitted from Brazil's World Cup roster earlier this year.

However, a move to the Red Bulls would undoubtedly be a significant signing for MLS and the Brazilian phenom still possesses outstanding technique, a deadly foot from set pieces, and the ability to alter the outcome of a match with one precision-perfect pass.
