MLS Power Rankings, Week 7: Does Minnesota still sit at the bottom?

Welcome to the 2017 MLS Power Rankings, where we rank each team after each week with consideration to form, latest results, stats, and some other intangibles to try and craft an idea of how things stand in one single table.

Here's how each team ranks after Week 7 of the 2017 season:

1. Portland Timbers (-)

• Last Week: 1-0 loss vs. Sporting Kansas City
• Next MLS Match: April 22 vs. Vancouver (4:00 p.m. ET)

The Portland Timbers suffered a small setback with a loss to Sporting KC but remain the strongest team on paper in MLS.

2. FC Dallas (-)

• Last Week: 1-1 draw vs. San Jose Earthquakes
• Next MLS Match: April 22 vs. Sporting KC (8:00 p.m. ET)

FC Dallas would have leapt into pole position with a win over San Jose but instead stay in second after a less-than-convincing 1-1 draw.

3. Orlando City (+1)

• Last Week: 2-1 win vs. LA Galaxy
• Next MLS Match: April 23 at NYCFC (1:30 p.m. ET)

Orlando City might want a bit more production throughout the entire 90 minutes from Cyle Larin, but last-second goals are oh so sweet, aren't they?

4 Sporting Kansas City (+1)

• Last Week: 1-0 win vs. Portland Timbers
• Next MLS Match: April 22 at Dallas (8:00 p.m. ET)

Sporting Kansas City looks more and more dangerous with each passing day and that should spell a solid season for Peter Vermes' side through 2017.

5. Atlanta United (-2)

• Last Week: 2-1 loss vs. Montreal Impact
• Next MLS Match: April 22 at Real Salt Lake (9:30 p.m. ET)

Tata Martino's expansion Atlanta United conceded a tough loss to Montreal, and while they probably deserved more, an unlucky bounce has them dropping.

6. New York Red Bulls (+3)

• Last Week: 2-0 win vs. D.C. United
• Next MLS Match: April 22 vs. Columbus (7:30 p.m. ET)

The New York Red Bulls need not worry about making the playoffs - this team hasn't really skipped a beat and remains ruthlessly efficient at getting results.

7. New York City FC (+3)

• Last Week: 2-0 win vs. Philadelphia Union
• Next MLS Match: April 23 vs. Orlando (1:30 p.m. ET)

On its day, New York City FC isn't just one of the strongest teams in MLS, but also one of the prettiest - David Villa's amazing 50-yard goal was a real treat.

8. Toronto FC (-2)

• Last Week: 2-1 loss vs. Columbus Crew
• Next MLS Match: April 21 vs. Chicago (7:30 p.m. ET)

Toronto FC is kind of confusing to rank; the Reds look dangerous and control matches, but lack fatal form. If Drew Moor is out long term, that's a problem.

9. Seattle Sounders (-2)

• Last Week: 2-1 loss vs. Vancouver Whitecaps
• Next MLS Match: April 23 at LA Galaxy (4:00 p.m. ET)

It always stings when a former player scores against your team, doubly so for the Seattle Sounders as Fredy Montero's brace sealed a loss in Cascadia.

10. Houston Dynamo (-2)

• Last Week: 2-2 draw vs. Minnesota United
• Next MLS Match: April 22 vs. San Jose (4:00 p.m. ET)

The Houston Dynamo commanded a lead and then blew it against the Loons, and drop a spot as a result.

11. Chicago Fire (+2)

• Last Week: 3-0 win vs. New England Revolution
• Next MLS Match: April 21 at Toronto (7:30 p.m. ET)

The Chicago Fire haven't lost since Bastian Schweinsteiger joined the team, and the German was instrumental in crafting yet another win this week.

12. Columbus Crew (+4)

• Last Week: 2-1 win vs. Toronto FC
• Next MLS Match: April 22 at NY Red Bulls (7:30 p.m. ET)

The Columbus Crew sits atop the Eastern Conference standings and Gregg Berhalter's side is quickly shedding any notion that this form is temporary.

13. San Jose Earthquakes (-1)

• Last Week: 1-1 draw vs. FC Dallas
• Next MLS Match: April 19 at New England (7:30 p.m. ET)

The San Jose Earthquakes probably don't deserve to drop a spot, but with teams around them getting results, the Earthquakes see a small slip; a point against Dallas is just fine, though.

14. New England Revolution (-3)

• Last Week: 3-0 loss vs. Chicago Fire
• Next MLS Match: April 19 vs. San Jose (7:30 p.m. ET)

The New England Revolution might be the yo-yo team of the 2017 season; one week the Revs look solid, the next, a shambles.

15. LA Galaxy (-1)

• Last Week: 2-1 loss vs. Orlando City
• Next MLS Match: April 23 vs. Seattle (4:00 p.m. ET)

The LA Galaxy of 2017 looks nothing like the LA Galaxy teams of yesteryear.

16. Real Salt Lake (+1)

• Last Week: 2-1 win vs. Colorado Rapids
• Next MLS Match: April 22 vs. Atlanta (9:30 p.m. ET)

All Real Salt Lake has to do is continue grinding out results and remain under the radar. Their time will come, if this kind of form keeps up.

17. D.C. United (-2)

• Last Week: 2-0 loss vs. New York Red Bulls
• Next MLS Match: April 22 at New England (7:30 p.m. ET)

It has become clear that D.C. United doesn't have the kind of game-changing talent that most other teams in the league possess.

18. Montreal Impact (+1)

• Last Week: 2-1 win vs. Atlanta United
• Next MLS Match: April 22 at Philadelphia (1:00 p.m. ET)

The Montreal Impact finally got a first win of the 2017 season - albeit one that came from a bit of a fortuitous flick by Anthony Jackson-Hamel at the last.

19. Vancouver Whitecaps (+1)

• Last Week: 2-1 win vs. Seattle Sounders
• Next MLS Match: April 22 at Portland (4:00 p.m. ET)

The Vancouver Whitecaps need to take a look at this victory and learn from it; Kendall Waston, in particular, was immense, as was Montero.

20. Colorado Rapids (-2)

• Last Week: 2-1 loss vs. Real Salt Lake
• Next MLS Match: April 23 at Minnesota (6:00 p.m. ET)

The Colorado Rapids made their name on a steadfast defense that seemingly lost its way. Finding that form is even tougher with Tim Howard suspended.

21. Minnesota United (+1)

• Last Week: 2-2 draw vs. Houston Dynamo
• Next MLS Match: April 23 vs. Colorado (6:00 p.m. ET)

Rejoice, for Minnesota United isn't in last place anymore!

22. Philadelphia Union (-1)

• Last Week: 2-0 loss vs. New York City FC
• Next MLS Match: April 22 vs. Montreal (1:00 p.m. ET)

The Philadelphia Union have yet to record a win in 2017 - Yikes.
