McCarty defends Red Bulls replacement Davis: 'Let the kid play'
Dax McCarty has demanded Major League Soccer viewers give his "replacement" at the New York Red Bulls, Sean Davis, time to reach form after the organization's website ran a feature comparing them.
Flame-topped McCarty, 29, was at the center of a sensational offseason trade when the Chicago Fire parted with $400,000 in General Allocation Money for his services. That move paved the way for 24-year-old Davis to stake a claim to be a regular starter for the Red Bulls.

When compared to last year's exploits, however, a statistic score used by MLS states Davis "has not been performing to those heights," while McCarty has been his typical busy self in his early days for the Fire.
This premature assessment of his former teammate prompted McCarty to jump to his defense on Twitter:
McCarty and Davis will first spar against one another when the Red Bulls host the Fire on April 29.
