The man they call "El Cubo" is finally back.
Erick Torres scored the first goal of the Houston Dynamo's 2017 season - and the first of his Houston career - in fine fashion, smacking a right-footed free-kick over the Seattle Sounders' seven-man wall and beating goalkeeper Stefan Frei at the 20-minute mark Saturday.
As a goal, alone, it was very sweet, but for Torres, the goal is also pretty significant.
It marks the first goal the Mexico striker has scored in MLS since 2014, when he played for the now-defunct Chivas USA. Reunited at Houston with his old Chivas manager Wilmer Cabrera, Torres has kicked off his turnaround year with a perfect start.
