Watch: Christian Ramirez slams home 1st MLS goal in Minnesota history
Welcome to the big leagues, Christian Ramirez.
Minnesota United's fan-favorite forward scored the first goal in his side's MLS history Saturday, turning and firing home from the edge of the box in the 79th minute.
Ramirez is affectionately referred to as the "Superman" to Miguel Ibarra's "Batman," nicknames they received when the two first joined the club in its NASL days before making the step up into MLS this season.
Unfortunately for the Loons, Portland was awarded a penalty a minute later, with Diego Valeri stepping up to restore the two-goal cushion at 3-1 before Fanendo Adi capped off the evening with two late markers of his own.
The Timbers won the match 5-1, but Adrian Heath's side can take solace in having at least scored the first goal in franchise history. On to the next one.
