New York Red Bulls address reports of Marsch being linked to Salzburg

New York Red Bulls head coach Jesse Marsch has been surprisingly linked to a move to one of the organization's other teams this week, with MLSsoccer reporting Wednesday Marsch is in serious talks with Red Bull Salzburg.

But on Thursday, the U.S. outfit responded with a denial of those reports, stating Marsch is very much in the team's plans for the 2017 MLS season.

Marsch took over with the Red Bulls in 2015 after a three-year absence from MLS, where he most recently led the Montreal Impact through the 2012 season. He has since gone on to win the MLS Supporters' Shield in 2015 and finished atop the Eastern Conference in both the 2015 and 2016 regular season.

His work within the Red Bull organization has seen Marsch implement its unified style of play to the New Jersey-based outfit, where quick, high-pressing play is favored and a roster is built around players who don't command hefty salary figures.

Marsch has gotten the most out of players like Bradley Wright-Phillips, Dax McCarty, and Sacha Kljestan, who aren't necessarily star names but have turned in MVP-caliber performances for the club.

In Marsch's stead, MLSsoccer reports ex-Chicago Fire midfielder Chris Armas or former Fire head coach Denis Hamlett could be linked to the New York job, but with the Red Bulls denying that report, Marsch remains in charge of the team.
