The Portland Timbers announced Thursday the club has signed a trio of young players from its affiliate USL outfit T2, bringing on goalkeeper Kendall McIntosh, defender Rennico Clarke, and winger Victor Arboleda to its senior team for the 2017 season.

"With a growing number of players signed from our USL club, we believe developing through our T2 program is a very effective way to get young players ready for first-team football," Timbers general manager Gavin Wilkinson said in a statement. "We are very encouraged by the progress we are seeing in this area in a relatively short period of time."

The Timbers also announced the club has re-signed winger Jack Barmby after the 22-year-old Englishman enjoyed a strong debut season in 2016, making 19 appearances and scoring one goal.

"Overall we felt Jack had a positive first season with our club, especially considering his age and potential upside," Timbers head coach Caleb Porter said. "We look forward to having him back and seeing even more progress and impact this season."
