Will Bruin makes Seattle switch

There's something Bruin in Seattle, and for once it's not the Pacific Northwest city's trademark coffee but a forward boasting a half-century of MLS goals.

Defending MLS champs Seattle Sounders announced Friday a move for Houston Dynamo striker Will Bruin in exchange for targeted and general allocation money.

The Sounders confirmed the deal with a statement on its website, with the 27-year-old Bruin added to the squad on the heels of the club's decision not to exercise a 2017 option on striker Nelson Valdez.

Bruin's move is Seattle's second offensive-minded transaction in as many days after Brian Schmetzer's lot snatch Harry Shipp from the Montreal Impact on Thursday.

The six-year MLS veteran took to Twitter Friday to express his gratitude towards the Dynamo organization he joined in 2011 after a successful NCAA spell with the Indiana Hoosiers.

In adding Bruin to an already-strong squad, the Sounders can slot the robust goal-scorer up top and slide homegrown star Jordan Morris out wide pending a hopeful return for Clint Dempsey.

"Will is a known commodity as a consistent goal-scorer that we believe can immediately bolster our attack," Sounders GM and president Garth Lagerway admitted. "Coupled with yesterday's acquisition of Harry Shipp, we're excited about the impact that these two young and proven players can bring next season."
