Major League Soccer announced Tuesday the 2016 MLS Cup between Toronto FC and the Seattle Sounders was the most-watched final in league history, with more than 3.5 million fans tuning in between FOX Sports, UniMas, and TSN/RDS.

FOX's 1,411,000 viewers make for the most-watched MLS Cup since 2001; TSN's 1,430,000 is an all-time audience record for an MLS game on the network; both pulled in similar numbers, and were boosted by 601,000 viewers on UniMas (second most-watched MLS Cup) and 92,000 on RDS, bringing the total to 3,534,000.

The league also set a new attendance record with an all-time average high of 27,790 fans per game for playoff matches and the MLS Cup final combined.
