Vancouver's Blas Perez hit with 1-match ban

The Vancouver Whitecaps will be without combative forward Blas Perez in their next outing after MLS adjudged he kicked out at Herculez Gomez.

The flashpoint occurred in the 78th minute of Sunday's 2-1 loss to the Seattle Sounders, with the Panamanian making "a second contact" with the veteran forward when he was on the turf after the pair came together.

Perez will sit out Oct. 16's trip to the San Jose Earthquakes, a tilt which only involves playoff implications for the hosts due to the six-point gap that lies between them and six-placed Sporting Kansas City.
