Dortmund in no rush to sign Pulisic to new contract

Despite Christian Pulisic's superb display to open the Bundesliga season, Borussia Dortmund isn't dashing to the American playmaker's agent with a new contract in hand.

Pulisic, 18, is quickly developing a positive reputation at the German club following his impressive play in the Champions League and Bundesliga, where he recorded his first league goal of the season Saturday against Darmstadt.

With his contract set to expire in 2019, Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc revealed to German outlet kicker that the team currently has no intention to sign Pulisic to a new long-term contract: "That's not an issue right now."

Zorc added: "He has only just turned 18.

"He can be delighted to have made his debut in the Champions League aged 17 and to have set up a goal there as well as having scored and set up goals in the Bundesliga."

Pulisic could be on the verge of becoming a regular in manager Thomas Tuchel's first team if he can maintain the level of play he's shown since joining Dortmund as a 16-year-old in 2015.
