New York Red Bulls forward Bradley Wright-Phillips has been named MLS Player of the Week for Week 23 of the 2016 MLS season after scoring a brace against the Montreal Impact on Saturday and becoming the club's top scorer in league play in the process.

Wright-Phillips scored within 60 seconds of Ignacio Piatti's 21st-minute goal to bring the score back to 1-1 at Red Bull Arena, then added his second goal in the 41st minute to surpass Juan Pablo Angel in the club's scoring charts, with the English forward currently sitting on 59 league goals.

Those efforts have earned him the MLS Player of the Week nod for the second time this season; he was awarded the individual accolade on May 24 for scoring a brace in a 7-0 decimation of rival New York City FC at Yankee Stadium.
