Watch: Lampard continues silencing doubters with 9th goal in last 10 starts

Reuters

Frank Lampard has done it again, somehow.

The New York City FC star midfielder scored yet another goal from the 6-yard box, tapping home a rebounded free-kick against the Columbus Crew to give his side a 1-0 lead at the stroke of halftime at MAPFRE Stadium.

If you've been keeping up with his endeavors, Lampard now has nine goals in his last 10 starts since returning from a calf injury that kept him sidelined for the first 12 matches of the 2016 season.

Seven of those nine goals have come from deflections, rebounds or otherwise fortuitous situations where his smart positioning has helped him to score.

The former Chelsea man has certainly shed his "overrated" label, but if he keeps this rate of scoring up, he might just be an MVP candidate when the dust settles on this campaign, quite by accident.
