Wright-Phillips surpasses Juan Pablo Angel as Red Bulls' top scorer
There's a new top scorer at the New York Red Bulls.
Bradley Wright-Phillips scored a pair of goals in the first half of his side's match against the Montreal Impact to tie and then surpass the club's regular-season all-time scoring record formerly held by Juan Pablo Angel of 58 goals.
Wright-Phillips' second effort puts him at 59 regular-season goals, alone atop the club's scoring charts.
The two efforts marked Wright-Phillips' 13th and 14th goals of the 2016 season and he is now one goal behind Sebastian Giovinco in the MLS Golden Boot race.
Wright-Phillips, the son of Arsenal icon Ian Wright, has enjoyed a bountiful time in Major League Soccer, most notably in 2014 when he scored 27 goals in 32 appearances.
He wasn't the only Red Bulls player to mark a record in the half, though:
