Agent: Giuseppe Rossi angling for Fiorentina stay

Giuseppe Rossi could stick with Fiorentina for the 2016-17 Serie A season, after impressing with the Viola in pre-season training, according to agent Federico Pastorello.

Rossi, who spent part of 2016 on loan with Spanish outfit Levante, has endured an injury-plagued career. Finally feeling fit and healthy, the diminutive striker is hoping to cement a spot in Paulo Sousa's side for the upcoming campaign.

"He's currently a Fiorentina player and he's looked really good in pre-season," Pastorello told Sky Sport Italia, as quoted by ESPN FC. "His five months on loan at Levante helped him a lot and he's managed to get back to his best shape."

Rossi has also been linked with a move to Major League Soccer. The New York Red Bulls are reportedly interested, though head coach Jesse Marsch told reporters the club has made no contact with the New Jersey-born Italy international.

For his part, Pastorello seemed to quash those reports as well.

"We are talking with Fiorentina, but if he (Rossi) were to leave then it would only be to a club who are worthy of his quality," Pastorello said.
