Kaka: Orlando can still make playoffs with slight tweaks

Orlando City's veteran orchestrator Kaka still thinks the Lions can get back in the playoff mix with "some adjustments."

Adian Heath lost his job as Orlando manager earlier this month after an inconsistent beginning to the season, prompting the hire of Jason Kreis, former overseer of New York City FC.

There were reasons for optimism in the new manager's opening 2-2 draw at the Columbus Crew last Saturday, but Orlando needs points on the board if it's to better its current standing of seventh place and reach the postseason.

"I think we have not just played better, but we have a group that should be in a better position in the table," said Kaka. "I think with some adjustments, we can be much better in the table, and probably we will be (in it) until the last game of the regular season."

The 92-time Brazil international also claims Orlando has been victim to a hugely competitive Major League Soccer season, which has seen the likes of the Seattle Sounders and the Crew, who were defeated finalists in the 2015 MLS Cup, perform below expectations.

"This league, it's very competitive," he continued. "If you miss some details during the game, you tie or you lose - just for little mistakes. So probably we had some mistakes that cost us a few points that probably could leave us in a better position in the table. But it didn't happen, and this is something that we have to fix if you want to make the playoffs."

Orlando's quest for its first playoff appearance in its sophomore term continues against the New England Revolution on Sunday.
