FC Dallas-Sounders preview

FC Dallas will try to build on its MLS winning streak when it continues its West Coast road trip against the Seattle Sounders on Wednesday at CenturyLink Field in Seattle.

Dallas (11-5-4) sits atop the Western Conference standings with 37 points. The team has won its last three MLS matches, beating Real Salt Lake 2-0 on June 25, Orlando City SC 4-0 on July 4 and the San Jose Earthquakes 1-0 on Friday.

Seattle (5-10-2) is last in the Western Conference with 17 points. The struggling Sounders have scored a league-worst 14 goals in 17 games. Dallas and the Los Angeles Galaxy are tied for the conference lead with 31 goals.

Dallas is led by Michael Barrios, who has a team-high six goals. Tesho Akindele and Fabian Castillo have scored five goals apiece. Mauro Diaz has two goals and a team-high nine assists, including assists on four game-winning goals.

Rookie Jordan Morris leads Seattle in scoring with six goals. Chad Marshall and Clint Dempsey have scored two goals apiece. Andreas Ivanschitz leads the team with three assists.

"We need to try and cut service (for Dallas)," Seattle coach Sigi Schmid said. "The guy that hurt us in the past is Diaz, so we need to take him out of the game and cut service from him. They're also a team that relies on set pieces, a really big, physical team, so we have to be aware of that as well."

Seattle is 0-3-1 in its last four MLS matches with one goal during that stretch. The Sounders are 4-5-1 at home this season. Dallas has been scoring with ease during its current MLS winning streak, outscoring opponents 7-0 in its last three league matches.

Dallas will look to Diaz to feed the wingers, who should have a decided advantage against Seattle's slower back four. The Sounders will be hoping for a lightning strike from Morris or Dempsey, who recently returned from international competition with the U.S. national team.
