Galaxy-Earthquakes preview

Finding any semblance of offense has become a chore for the Los Angeles Galaxy.

The Galaxy has gone more than 300 minutes without scoring a goal and has been on the wrong end of clean sheets in their last three matches. Overall, Los Angeles (5-3-7) is mired in a six-game winless streak -- its longest since the 2012 season.

The Galaxy are desperate to generate any positive momentum at Stanford Stadium on Saturday in the third and final meeting this season with San Jose.

They won't be the only team looking to reverse recent fortune. Things have not gone well for the Earthquakes, either.

San Jose (5-4-6) will be trying to end a five-game winless streak in all competitions. It has won just once in its past seven MLS games as international call-ups and injuries took a toll.

Leading scorer Chris Wondolowski has been away with the U.S. National Team in the Copa America Centenario. Injuries to Andres Imperiale (calf), Jordan Stewart (hamstring) and Clarence Goodson (back) have decimated the back line.

Things have not been much better for Los Angeles. Gyasi Zardes (United States) and Robbie Keane (Ireland) are both absent with their respective national teams. Fullback Robbie Rogers is also out after undergoing ankle surgery this week.

The Galaxy will be playing their third game in a week. Los Angeles tied Western Conference leader Colorado on Wednesday and the result moved the Galaxy a point ahead of the Earthquakes in the Western Conference standings.

Los Angeles leads the series 22-18-15 and is 1-0-1 against San Jose this season.
