The New York Red Bulls have extended the contract of 2015 MLS Coach of the Year Jesse Marsch.

Marsch, who joined the club ahead of last season, led the Red Bulls to an Eastern Conference Finals spot and the best regular season in team history.

"Jesse is an excellent person and the perfect coach for this club," Red Bulls Sporting Director Ali Curtis said. "I am excited that we agreed on a new contract. I enjoy working with Jesse every day and he continues to have an exceptional impact on the success of our club."

A three-time MLS Cup winner as a player with D.C. United and the Chicago Fire, Marsch's lot won the Supporters Shield last season, leading the Red Bulls to the league's best goal differential (plus-19).

The club's 18 wins was a franchise record, as were the 12 home victories paired with a dazzling standard of the MLS' most goals scored and the fewest conceded.

Boasting a 24-17-7 regular-season record, Marsch has the fifth most victories in club history, trailing only Mike Petke (30), Bob Bradley (32), and Octavio Zambrano and Hans Backe, who have 41 each.

As per league policy, the terms of the multi-year deal were not disclosed.
