5 things we learned in MLS Week 13: Drogba the savior, Kamara's cruel irony

Week 13 of the 2016 MLS season was the last full week of action before the league took a two-week break for the Copa America Centenario, and there are plenty of talking points from this round of action.

Here's what we learned in Week 13:

Resurgent Red Bulls soar

The New York Red Bulls are back. They scored 10 goals in two games - each unanswered. Jesse Marsch's side picked up a pair of wins against rivals New York City FC and Toronto FC.

Top scorer Bradley Wright-Phillips also broke the league record for fastest hat trick scored, collecting all three by the 27th minute of the latter fixture.

It took a while, but the Red Bulls have found their feet once more. Meanwhile ...

Toronto FC is in trouble

It hasn't been a great week for The 6ix: The Toronto Raptors were eliminated from the NBA playoffs, while Toronto FC lost to the Red Bulls at Red Bull Arena. To add insult to injury, Sebastian Giovinco picked up an adductor injury and will likely be out for the next few weeks.

With Michael Bradley away with the U.S. national team and Jozy Altidore also on the treatment table, Toronto FC was forced to use a front three comprised of Ashtone Morgan, Dan Lovitz, and Mo Babouli. Morgan has the most experience of the three ... as a left full-back. Lovitz and Babouli haven't done anything to warrant a starting role.

It's fine to give your depth players a chance, but in this particular case, Toronto FC looked exposed. There isn't enough quality in the Reds' reserve ranks and without their Designated Players, they don't look confident.

Luckily, besides missing out on a pair of Amway Canadian Championship matches, Giovinco's absence won't hurt Toronto FC too much. It is, however, a worrying sign the team isn't built to survive these sorts of injury woes.

Kei Kamara learns tough lesson on irony

Irony is a cruel, cruel thing. Former Columbus Crew forward Kei Kamara found that out the hard way.

Before being traded to the New England Revolution, Kei really wanted to score a hat trick. He led the league in goals last season with 22, but didn't net three in a single match - nor has any Crew player since 2004. It's why, when Federico Higuain denied him a penalty to secure his three-goal triumph, Kei publicly dressed him down. He was traded for those comments.

When Kei's replacement - the aptly named Ola Kamara - took to the field against Real Salt Lake in just his third start ever for the Crew, he scored a hat trick. Fans were quick to berate Kei on Twitter.

End of an era in Texas

The Houston Dynamo parted ways with head coach Owen Coyle this week, with the Scottish tactician attributing his exit to a desire to be closer to his family abroad.

It's a time for reflection amid a period of potential rebirth for the Dynamo organization as the team now looks to fill the managerial role with another new face.

There were whispers that Coyle had lost the locker room, and some fans were unhappy he didn't leave before the season started. Coyle's departure marks yet another foreign manager leaving the league in failure.

Of the 20 managers who've won the MLS Cup, only seven of them are foreign:
