Toronto FC held to scoreless draw by Columbus Crew

TORONTO - Toronto FC goalkeeper Clint Irwin earned his fifth shutout of the season on Saturday night in a 0-0 draw with the Columbus Crew in a Trillium Cup matchup at BMO Field.

Toronto FC dropped to 4-4-4 with its second straight tie while the Crew (2-4-5) are winless in the team's last four games.

Crew goalkeeper Steve Clark earned his third clean sheet of the season for Columbus, too.

Sebastian Giovinco had Toronto's best opportunity to break the scoreless draw in the 68th minute, but he uncharacteristically shot the ball wide in a one-on-one situation with Clark.

Mo Babouli provided the brilliant through ball for the Italian star, but Giovinco failed to score what would have been an MLS-leading ninth goal of the season.

The match also marked the 100th appearance for Toronto-born midfielder Jonathan Osorio.
