Top 5 goals from MLS Week 9

Twitter/@FOXSoccer

Week 9 of the 2016 MLS season produced a handful of stunning strikes, each with a bit of a curl to find that exact sweet spot in the top corner, whether from a dead ball or from open play. Some stars put their acrobatics on display, too.

Here are the five goals we deemed the best of the bunch in Week 9:

5. Didier Drogba punishes the Rapids

We'll kick things off with Montreal Impact forward Didier Drogba, who hit an inch-perfect free kick to open the scoring against the Colorado Rapids; the knuckle-ball curve was unstoppable, but it wasn't the only pretty goal out of this game.

4. Maxim Tissot smacks home low drive

Maxim Tissot added a beauty of his own with a goal from 30 yards out; the Canadian put his entire body through the low, driven, and direct shot, which beat the 'keeper to his bottom left.

3. Diego Valeri hits side netting with dead ball strike

Facing Toronto FC at the end of their eight-game road trip, Portland Timbers midfielder Diego Valeri scored this game-winning goal with a perfect, curling free kick that hit the side netting - utter perfection!

2. David Villa - the (unmarked) acrobat

It's probably not a good idea to leave New York City FC ace David Villa unmarked in the box, a lesson the Vancouver Whitecaps learned the hard way as the Spanish striker scored this acrobatic sideways volley en route to a 3-2 win.

1. Brad Davis shows off his curling skills

Sporting Kansas City midfielder Brad Davis takes the top prize this week for his curved left-footed shot, which helped his team secure a point in a draw against the LA Galaxy. Look at that bend!
