It just had to be Will Johnson.

The former Portland Timbers skipper made his return to Providence Park as his new team Toronto FC came to town for their eighth consecutive road game. Down 1-0, Johnson smacked home a long, driven shot to restore the lead before halftime, with the referee playing advantage on a prior foul.

Johnson, who spent three seasons with the Timbers before joining Toronto FC at the start of the 2016 season, did not celebrate the goal in a show of respect to his old outfit.

"I'm here professionally right now," Johnson told the broadcast crew at halftime. "Once I cross the white line, I'm all red."

The Canadian international, who broke his leg against Toronto two seasons ago at BMO Field, captained the Timbers to its first MLS Cup victory last year.
