Top 5 goals from MLS Week 8

Week 8 of the 2016 MLS season saw New York Red Bulls forward Bradley Wright-Phillips finally find the back of the net, but were either of his two goals worthy of our top 5 list? (Spoiler: Nope)

Here are the five strikes we deemed the best of the bunch from the week:

5. Doyle pounces on hapless Sounders

Colorado Rapids forward Kevin Doyle has been out of the team's starting XI for the last four games but in the final 12 minutes against the Seattle Sounders, the Irish striker proved his merit with this side-heel aerial tap-in effort.

4. Giovinco drives it down the 401

Toronto FC ace Sebastian Giovinco put the final dagger into the Montreal Impact's heart and hopes in this 401 Derby clash, striking it first-time after Will Johnson tenaciously won the ball back at the edge of the box.

3. Gerrard leaves Real Salt Lake for dead

LA Galaxy star Steven Gerrard may not have the legs that lifted him to legendary status with Liverpool but he is far from washed up; case in point, the former England skipper made Real Salt Lake's back four look like fools in this final goal of a 5-2 rout.

2. Dos Santos chips it home

Gerrard's goal wasn't the prettiest scored by the Galaxy on the day, though; that nod goes to Mexican icon Giovani Dos Santos, whose brilliant turn-and-chip shot gave the Galaxy a healthy lead to build on.

1. Anything you can chip, Acosta can chip better

But Dos Santos' chip wasn't good enough to take the top prize; that belongs to D.C. United live-wire Luciano Acosta, who's audacious chip from well outside the box left New England Revolution goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth blushing.
