Toronto FC trade de Guzman to FC Dallas

Toronto FC traded Julian de Guzman to FC Dallas in exchange for midfielder Andrew Wiedeman.

De Guzman, born in Scarborough, Ontario, has played all 65 games of his career with Toronto FC scoring 2 goals.

"Julian has had a very experienced career, having played in both the German and Spanish first divisions," said FC Dallas head coach Schellas Hyndman. "He is a central midfielder, a holding midfielder and a very skillful player. He also has a lot of experience playing with the Canadian national team. He will give FC Dallas an additional veteran that can solidify our possession style of play. He also has a bit of toughness to him that will help us win 50-50 balls and control the central midfield."

Wiedeman leaves Dallas having made eight MLS appearances after being drafted in the second round (21st overall) of the 2010 MLS SuperDraft.

The 22-year-old netted five goals with one assist in nine preseason games for Dallas prior to the start of this season.
