Lindpere inks new contract with New York

Harrison, NJ (Sports Network) - Red Bull New York announced Tuesday that it has signed midfielder Joel Lindpere to a new, multi-year contract. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Lindpere, 30, first joined the Red Bulls ahead of the 2010 season from Norwegian side Tromso. In his first Major League Soccer season, the Estonian led the Red Bulls with six assists and was named the team's Most Valuable Player.

"Joel has been an important part of our progress over the last two seasons and has become one of our most popular players because of his work rate, performance and commitment to the club," said New York General Manager and Sporting Director Erik Soler. "We wanted to reward him with a new contract to recognize his efforts and are excited that we agreed to a new contract with him."

Lindpere has also featured for Estonia 76 times, notching six goals.
