Analysis:

The results have been sub-par for Samardzija this spring, but he insisted that he wasn't worried about the results and was just looking to get his arm ready for the regular season. This was his first start in pitcher-friendly AT&T Park and also his first start during a brisk night in San Francisco, a climate he will be pitching in regularly this season. Thursday's gem will help his owners feel more confident about a bounce-back season after posting a 4.96 ERA with the defensively-challenged White Sox last season. Samardzija is penciled in as the Giants' third starter and will make his debut April 6 at Milwaukee.
