Lucroy surprised Brewers still haven't traded him

The fact that Jonathan Lucroy remains a member of the Milwaukee Brewers this late into spring training has left the All-Star catcher unsettled.

"It's such a weird feeling," Lucroy told Bob Nightengale of USA TODAY Sports. "You don't know where you're at, what's going on, what the plan is. I felt like I was going to get traded five times this offseason. I don't know why it didn't go down.

"So I have no idea what's going to happen. And not knowing is very difficult."

Lucroy is under contract for a team-friendly $4 million this season, with the Brewers holding a $5.25-million option for 2017.

The club has undergone a complete tear down of its roster over the past year, and the 29-year-old acknowledged in January that he would absolutely welcome a trade to a winning team. Now he's left unsure of where he stands in the organization moving forward.

"I really don't know what my role is or if what they want me to help develop guys during this process," Lucroy said. "I think the best approach is to bank on being in Milwaukee all year, and kind of seeing what happens from there.

"It's all out of your control. But communication is a big thing. I'd like to be kept up to date what's going on. It's not like I'm going to spread it all around, I just want to know when it's coming, when to expect it."
