GLENDALE, Ariz. - Chris Sale pitched 5 1/3 innings and Clayton Kershaw went nearly that far in a matchup of aces Saturday, with the Chicago White Sox beating the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-2.

Sale made his Cactus League debut after pitching in a ''B'' game earlier in the week. He allowed two runs and six hits, walking one and striking out three. The lefty is set to start on Opening Day.

"It's just another spring training game," Sale said postgame. "I usually don't pay too much attention to who I'm pitching against. As for the atmosphere, more people probably came out because of that. It was good. Overall, we accomplished what we needed to."

Kershaw, pitching on his 28th birthday, gave up two runs and six hits, walking none and striking out four over five innings of work in his fourth spring start.

The White Sox and Dodgers won't clash during the regular season, so it could be a long time before the pair of left-handed aces do battle again.
