The Tampa Bay Rays added a veteran arm to their spring training bullpen mix on Friday, signing right-hander David Carpenter to a minor-league deal with an invite to spring training.
Carpenter was released by the Atlanta Braves on March 5.
The 30-year-old split last season between the New York Yankees and Washington Nationals, posting a 4.01 ERA and 1.38 WHIP across 30 appearances.
Carpenter, a journeyman of five big-league seasons, has split his time at the top level between the Houston Astros, Toronto Blue Jays, Braves, Yankees, and Nationals.
