The Atlanta Braves will promote pitching prospect Aaron Blair to start Sunday's game versus the New York Mets at Turner Field, the team announced Saturday night.
Blair was acquired in December from the Arizona Diamondbacks in a blockbuster five-player deal involving right-hander Shelby Miller. He's Atlanta's second-ranked pitching prospect next to southpaw Sean Newcomb, according to MLB.com.
The 23-year-old has won all three of his starts at Triple-A Gwinnett, recording an impressive 1.42 ERA while striking out 22 batters over 19 innings of work.
Blair will oppose 2014 National League Rookie of the Year Jacob deGrom in the afternoon contest.
Left-hander Matt Marksberry was optioned to Gwinnett to make room for Blair on the 25-man roster.
