Orioles sign Thayer to minor-league deal

While the Baltimore Orioles progress on a contract with Yovani Gallardo, the club made another addition Wednesday, signing right-hander Dale Thayer to a minor-league deal.

The contract includes an invite to spring training.

Thayer, 35, spent the past four seasons with the San Diego Padres, posting a 4.06 ERA across 38 appearances in 2015.

During his seven-year big-league career, the reliever owns a 3.47 ERA and 1.21 WHIP during stints with the Padres, New York Mets, and Tampa Bay Rays.
